6 tips to help beginning and growing art students use their sketchbook more fearlessly. These are just a few things I do regularly to help me as an artist. Hopefully, it will help the art student too. This is one way to teach students to use their sketchbook and enjoy being crazy about it. I am always looking for sketchbook ideas. share your ideas in the comments and I might make a video out of them later.

Prismacolor Sticks Portrait Drawing on an on X-RAY Envelope

A couple of years ago I went to the chiropractor. I had some standard procedure x-rays done and on a whim, I asked for copies. I saved them all these years and today I drew a portrait using prismacolor sticks, of a student of mine named Keanu on the manilla envelope the X-rays came in. I decide the blue wasn't dark enough in some spots so I mixed in black prisma stick. Made a video and here it is.

Making art for the sake of it.

I have been trying to upgrade the quality of the videos that I make on youtube. and it has been motivational to make more art. Not just make more art but be less apprehensive about making art and more relaxed in the process. I think for a while I was so worried I wasn't making something legitimate that I stopped making it at all. but now I realize it doesn't have to win awards, it just has to be done. It just has to be fun. I have to make it or it will never be award-winning. furthermore, it won't exist. I have to make it exist. So with that said here is a video I did of me making a chickadee block print.

If you want one send me a message or comment. Please subscribe to my youtube channel: youtube.com/theartproject . please go and like and comment on the video. Thanks

You know what's going on here?

That's right! Funny Bunny is nesting! She is getting her box just right for....BABY RABBITS. at least I hope that's what she's doing. 29 days ago she mated with Buck. So the timing is right. She should be due anyway now and she was pulling out her dew lap fur for bedding all night. When I got out to the hutch this morning it looked like there were two rabbits.

Aside from this exciting news here something else. I made at least 11 bird houses and 5 feeders out of scrap wood and license plates and a couple of wallhangings for our open studio.

Consistency

I am 41 years old. Lack of consistency has kicked my butt for years. It is a battle I am ever fighting. But it is necessary. You can not live life properly and inconsistently. Not that you can't be spontaneous, but some parts of my life have to be consistent. Same God. Same wife. Same family. Same home. And this sounds like it goes without saying to some of you. But look at people who's life is a wreck. What are they inconsistent with? Family and God. Now I have been blessed with these as constants in my life. Praise be to the Lord. But other areas in my life are rocked by inconsistency but need it just as much. School/work disciplines, exercise, time alone in God's word. The list goes on. Being consistent doesn't mean simplifying your life but that can help. A lot! But also adding to your life the things that are important. For me homesteading has been very helpful. Daily chores like feeding chickens and rabbits; home maintenance, etc. A schedule. The" do-it-now" philosophy. All these things have been helpful. I recommend consistency even if you have to fight for it.
