Portrait drawing with a fork!
I did an ink drawing with a fork. it was fun. I have been drawing with kids in class for a while. They need to see me working. they see how the artist works. I teach an AP Studio Art Drawing class. We discuss things like mark-making. Mark making is pretty important when it comes to art. your marks are as unique as your fingerprints. every artist has their way of laying down marks and no matter how much you learn from another teacher your marks will always be uniquely yours. So learn everything you can from other artists, but also pursue the art of unique mark-making. With that being said this drawing was fun fun fun. I was in class. we were doing a lesson on Jim Dine and I was explaining superfluous marks. and the energy that comes from them. I was discussing how marks need to be confident and intentional, but lose and spontaneous. A plastic fork was in my desk drawer and it became the new object of my affection. I put up some drawing paper, got out a reference photo I had taken of one of my students a few days earlier, drew his contours and then filled in the shadows with a plastic fork or a "super cross-hatcher" however you want to look at it. Here's the video.

Making art for the sake of it.
I have been trying to upgrade the quality of the videos that I make on youtube. and it has been motivational to make more art. Not just make more art but be less apprehensive about making art and more relaxed in the process. I think for a while I was so worried I wasn't making something legitimate that I stopped making it at all. but now I realize it doesn't have to win awards, it just has to be done. It just has to be fun. I have to make it or it will never be award-winning. furthermore, it won't exist. I have to make it exist. So with that said here is a video I did of me making a chickadee block print.
If you want one send me a message or comment. Please subscribe to my youtube channel: youtube.com/theartproject . please go and like and comment on the video. Thanks

10 reasons to wear a belt and not sag
10 reasons
to wear a belt and not sag (in no particular order)
1. Cell phone:
You never leave home without it. Putting it in your back pocket could break it
when you sit. Keeping it in your front pocket makes it hard to get to when you’re
sitting. Putting your phone in a clip on your belt keeps it safer and easier to
access.
2. Professionalism: Very few professional jobs don’t require a
professional look. While tucking your shirt in might not be a requirement,
pants at the waist and a belt will not hurt the way you look.
3. Carrying a
multi-tool: Think Batman. While you may not be catching bad guys, you
probably do encounter moments, daily, where a knife would come in handy, or a
screwdriver or a pair of pliers. Most multi-tools come with a sheath which fits
on a belt leaving your pockets free for other things.
4. Carrying a gun:
In America we have a right to carry a gun for self-defense. Concealed carry is
a way of life. While there are many ways to carry your gun, a belt remains the
most convenient. (of course this doesn’t apply until you are of legal age to
get a permit)
5. You can reach your
wallet: Pockets are sewn in at arm’s length. If you carry a wallet or money
clip (and you should) you can reach it easier without having to bend over.
6. Pants will last
longer: When your pants sag, the bottoms drag the ground or get stepped on
when you walk. This wears out the ends making them look ratty and less professional.
7. You can run:
Maybe you’re like me and you rarely run. But if something happens and you have
to catch a paper that blows off in the wind, or run to catch a bus, or run from
danger well then you’re ready if you have your pants up and a belt on.
8. Keep you warm:
keeping your pants up will help keep you warm in cold weather
9. Belts are stylish:
Leather belts, belts with studs, belts with bling, belts with patterns, Nato
belts, military belts
10. Stops Nagging: No one will ever look at
you and say, “Bro, You’re not sagging enough”. However you will be constantly nagged
by older people, parents, teachers, and employers about your pants sagging.

Why Have I Never Heard This Before?
Genesis 8:21-22
21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse[a] the ground because of man, for the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
I read these verses this morning and it answered a long standing question. Why has God not struck us down AGAIN like he did by the flood? I mean I know he had promised not to destroy the world by flood. But I did not realize he had promised not to destroy the world again, period. I know God has plans for us. I know God is at work and there's a second coming etc. which rules out first being another destruction but for some reason I didn't connect the dots. In my mind there has always been a chance God would wipe us out by fire or plague or something, BUT HE PROMISED not to "strike us down". This is big to me because it accounts for a lot of tolerance and patience on Gods part. I don't know about you but for me, wrapping my mind around Gods character means asking, "what would I do in this situation if I were God?" Obviously this has a lot of room for error in the answer to the question but that being said my answer has, a lot of times, been "wipe 'em out". Never-mind patience! That has to run out sometime. Never-mind tolerance! You can not be tolerant of absolute evil. But if you say you're going to do something or not going to do something (and if you are God) you stick by that promise. What a relief.
I believe a lot of peoples unbelief in God is due to not reading the Bible and understanding it. I clear up a lot of issues I have with God through reading it and through real simple straight forward statements in the Bible that either I never read or never noticed.

Jackie Chan and Jesus Christ have the same initials
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”- Ephesians 4:2
I'm not anti-gun or anything. I have one in my house. I believe in defending your family. and I know this country would not exist without the men and women who took a stand an killed when necessary. And believe me when I tell you that few people like fighting in movies as much as i do. I am a fan of Jackie Chan, Steven Segal, and Jet Li. My favorite movies are the Matrix, the Bourne Identity, The Transporter, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

I am not anti-gun but I am Pro-Imitator of Christ. Christ loved us so much he took the bullet for our sins. While we were still his enemies (Romans 5:10) he took the bullet. And he when to great measures to do so. Peter was about to hand a servant of the High Priest his own ear when jesus stopped him and said,"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword." Jesus Was humble even though he was God. He was gentle even though he was pursecuted. And was he not the most patient man to ever live?!?! Just think, GOD walking along side of you listening to you bicker about who was the greatest (Mark 9:34). And he didn't back hand you and let you know without doubt who was the greatest. I'd say he beared with others in love. He went to the tomb knowing there was and is more to life than saving yourself, your family, your posessions. He was self sacrificing not self defending.
OH LORD, Help me to be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
